Kennen Tutorial

My first review is of Kennen-The heart of the Tempest

This character is a very fun an ballsy type of character to play because he has decent damage output but very low health. His playstyle is unique because it sometimes forces you to dive into scenarios, face first with his E and Q. Kennens passive can almost be compred to Annies but is must harder or easier depending on how you look at it.

Upon receiving 3 Marks of Storm, an opponent is stunned for 1 second and Kennen receives 25 energy. Mark of the Storm has a diminished stun effect if applied more than once within 7 seconds

Kennen throws a fast moving shuriken towards a location, causing damage and adding a Mark of the Storm to any opponent that it hits (500 range)

Every 5 attacks, Kennen deals magic damage equal to a percentage of his attack damage and adds a Mark of the Storm to his target.
(Active): Surges electricity through all nearby targets afflicted by Mark of the Storm, dealing magic damage and adding another mark.
Cost: 45 energy.
Area of Effect: 900

): Kennen moves very fast and gains the ability to pass through units, dealing magic damage and adding a Mark of the Storm to any hostile unit he passes through. Kennen is refunded 40 energy if he passes through an enemy while using this spell, but can only gain this effect once. Lightning Rush deals half damage to minions. Lightning Rush provides magic resistance and armor for 4 seconds
Cost: 100 Energy.
Area of Effect:

Kennen summons a magical storm that deals magic damage to a random enemy champion near Kennen every 0.5 seconds. This storm attacks up to a few times and cannot hit the same target more than 3 times. A Mark of the Storm is applied to enemies each time they are hit.
Cost: 40 Energy.
Cooldown: 120 seconds.
Area of Effect:

Now if you are just looking for a build on how to play Kennen than I suggest you scroll down or look elsewhere. Im going to cover his gameplay mechanics, which I believe are more helpful but I will also be talking about a build that I use.

First off with Kennen, you always wanna get the solo-mid. Hes very good at focus damaage, and early game he can be the strongest character mid, ive beaten janna, kat, and pantheon quite easily, so if theres a better char mid, i haven't played them. nextly you are going to want to build for

Hextech Gunblade

Why? Because if you rush it first it will give significant damage with your W passive and ability to harass and stay in lanes as well as spell vamp and ability power with a ridiculous Active. So firstly you are going to want to pick up vampiric scepter. You need to be careful because when you start out you are going to be very very squishy so if you get ganked you're basically fucked so be very map aware. But with this item choice, you are able to harass and lifesteal off minions for about 12 health each hit. For runes I always go with critical dmg and chance runes with some dodge. Crits early game, to me seem to outweigh a ton. The ability to do more than double the damage at lv 1 can be phenomenal for getting first blood.

Your skill order works out as such

W, Q E- then you max your Q and W. your E is strong enough at lv 1, lvling it only reduces CD and adds damage.

The summoner spells you are ALWAYS going to want to choose are ignite and Cleanse. Cleanse really helps for getting ganked, you do not need ghost if you have a built in ghost with your E. And ignite because its pretty op, doing 475 dmg at lv 18.

Now that you're in mid with you W up you are going to want to constantly getting 4 hits on minions

and hitting them with your active and passive of W. That enough is going to be controlling that mid but on top when you lvl and get your Q you will be destroying. What i've noticed with kennens Q is that its very quick like Ezraels' and it has a massive range. With kennens energy system he is fucking devastating.

Once you've hopefully gotten FB solomid or are about lv 6-8 you are ready to go back. You are going to wanna build hextech revolver before bilgewater blade because of the spellvamp and extra damage. Boots- you are always going to wanna get mercury treads or boots of swift, NEVER sorcerer  shoes since this build is hybrid and you really need speed to get in and out you are going to wanna get swift boots. As regards to your Q W and passive i didnt really explain. You are going to always hit them with your W constantly- its a guaranteed 2 hit combo and add 2 marks for your passive. If your W is lv 5 you can simply wait for them to be near again and activate it to get a third if you cant hit your skillshots. Be careful though, if they are walking out of your area for your W to cast, it  will sometimes act as if it was casted without doing damage, screwing you out of a spell till its cool'd down. So after you get your boots of swift and hextech you are going to want to get....the most common item for kennens, Rylais. It gives just enough damage and survivability as well as the ability to get away with slows on your spells. Keep in mind to remember your hextech ! you need to remember your gunblade has an active of 300 dmg and slowing with a pretty moderate cooldown so keep using it, i cant stress that enough, I see people rarely buy gunblade but even more rare is to actually active it. Once you hit about Mid-Late game you can pretty much play how you did before except you arent going to want to dive into 5 people alone. Figure out who your teams going to target  and focus them. Keep in mind on kennens ult its best cast on 1-2 people. meaning once you hit lvl 1 in mid you can stomp someones shit with the Q W R combo. I personally only use my E to get away from people never offensively but you may be different and want to stun people by smashing ur skull onto theirs. if you manage to be in a game past rylais build AP depending on their team or even stack hextech blades but remember that the actives on hextech dont stack. If I haven't covered something than please tell me, this is my first kind of written tutorial on a character so if it sucked asshole, i'm sorry.
